Leadership

Message from the President, Trey Wright

Without a doubt, I know everyone enjoyed themselves in Atlantic Beach at our 64th Annual Conference: “Public Health: Recruit, Develop, and Retain a Strong Public Team.”

Stacie Turpin Saunders served as moderator for our panel to discuss strategies and woes we encounter on recruiting & retaining staff. John Eller from Health Management Associates discussed the need for local health departments to modernize our workforce. Without reservation, I believe this conference provided insight and new ideas to develop and keep our staff. Thank you to everyone who stepped up and made this conference a success. The success of this conference, EDNCPHA, and future conferences are built on the hard work of those who volunteer their efforts to make a difference for all Public Health Departments in North Carolina.

What’s next for Eastern District North Carolina Public Health Association for this year? This year marks 65  years for EDNCPHA. We remain as committed to protecting and promoting the health of our community members of Eastern North Carolina today as we did 65 years ago. The leadership team has begun to meet and plan for the 65th Annual Education on April 30th – May 2nd, 2025, in Atlantic Beach, NC. Our leadership Team at EDNCPHA strives to do the best in our planning of relevant information, activities, and collaborative atmosphere that welcomes closer partnerships among all association members & counties. Please take the time to complete or renew your membership for EDNCPHA. We want to have 75 paid members by the end of 2024. You can do your part by sending in your membership now and recruiting a new member in our public health network.

Take care,
Trey Wright, President
