Annual Education Conference Dates Postponed
Dear Eastern District Family,

This year is showing us a challenge like we have never experienced! We will be celebrating 60 years of Eastern District, just not when we planned! However, the CORVID 19, does make us demonstrate our theme, “EDNCPHA – Celebrating 60 Years – Still Growing – Still Transforming.” When the coronavirus showed itself, the Executive Committee and I began to watch the seriousness of limiting community spread. Following suit with governance, we transformed, worked with the hotel to postpone this year’s Educational Conference and are still growing. Come celebrate this special occasion of our 60th Educational Conference from June 24-26, 2020. The room rates changed and are only street side. All those that had previously reserved their rooms have been changed to street side rooms at the Conference rate of $129.00. Your confirmation number remained the same.

I am so thankful that we will be bringing you a conference this year. I would like to thank those of you who have already joined Eastern District NCPHA. For those of you that have not, there is still time. I hope that I see all of you at the Ramada at beautiful Nags Head, NC. Again, come celebrate 60 years of Eastern District NC Public Health at its’ Best- Educating and Networking with our work families.

Be safe dear friends and family,
Rhonda Ashby, President EDNCPHA

We changed all active individual reservations in the block arriving in April to corresponding dates in June. We decided that it will be the easiest transition because a lot of people already put down a deposit towards their reservations.

Please let participants know that if they are not planning to come in June or if they need to alter the dates of their reservation they need to call us directly at 252 441 2151. If they already canceled their reservation, they will need to make a new one. Also, all the rooms are street side rooms at a rate of $129 per night. The confirmation numbers remain the same.

Message from the President

“Dear Colleagues and Friends of Public Health”

First, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for the confidence you have placed in me as your President this year. I have the honor of working with a great Executive Committee to develop and bring to you this year’s conference.

This year Eastern District NC Public Health Association will be celebrating its 60th Anniversary. Our theme this year is “EDNCPHA – Celebrating 60 years: Still Growing – Still Transforming.” This is a harmonious subject matter when one stops to think about where Public Health started and how far we have come. I would think Dr. L.E. King and Charlie McCotter, the co-founders of EDNCPHA, would be proud to see how Eastern District has grown over the past 60 years as well as how we have continued to transition with the times. We work harder with scarce resources. We must be more forward thinking in the way we do business becoming more effective and efficient along the way so we can serve our most vulnerable citizens. We are a resilient work force. If it were not for this, we would have never been able to transition through the complexities of our many challenges.

We are working to plan a terrific program to celebrate our 60 years. We hope that you plan to join us at Ramada Inn, Nags Head, NC, on April 28-May 1, 2020. So mark your calendar, get your bathing suit ready for play time after learning new topics like the new food laws and Medicare transition.

– Your colleague and friend, Rhonda Ashby, EDNCPHA President
