Message from the President

“Dear Colleagues and Friends of Public Health”

A big shout out to all public health employees who have been working tirelessly during the Covid 19
pandemic. I would like to commend all of you for your dedication and hard work. I would like to also
extend a thank you to all who are complying with the 3W’s; wear a mask, wash hands and wait 6 feet
apart. Unfortunately, this unprecedented pandemic caused us to cancel our spring 2019-2020
conference much to our disappointment.

However, the membership voted to retain officers for the 2020-2021 conference year since they were
unable to fulfill their duties due to these extraordinary times. The membership is working to plan for
the 61st Annual Eastern District conference. We hope that this pandemic will be behind us and we can
meet in beautiful Atlantic Beach. More information will be provided soon.

Lastly, I would like to encourage all of you to renew your membership with EDNCPHA and encourage
your colleagues to join as well. I know that my public health family has been here to nurture, support
and care for me throughout my many years in public health. I have also observed this same support,
nurturing and caring given to the citizens of North Carolina. Again, I encourage you to renew and
encourage others to join an organization that will allow one to grow further in public health and support
the wellbeing for all! You can find a membership form on our website, easterndistrictpublichealth.org
or contact our treasurer at edncpha@yahoo.com.

– Sincerely, Rhonda Ashby, EDNCPHA President
